Choosing the right skin care products can be tricky. As the seasons change, so does our skin. Often we have to switch up our routine to address dryness this time of year. (The chart above helps pick the correct Skin Rx for your type of skin.)
At Queen Bee, we try to keep it as simple as possible for you to have clean glowing skin. It is important to exfoliate when skin becomes dry so that we can apply moisture to a fresher, smoother surface. This allows you to use less product and have it be more effective.
For Your Face
If you aren’t already using our Glycolic Tonic, now is the time. It cleans the skin with deeply penetrating AHAs and breaks up the wax-like deposits that hold the dead skin to the surface. You can get a trial size to get you started or the full size will be on sale through the end of the year to encourage that you add this to your winter routine. If you are already using the Clarisonic Mia, congratulations! You are doing a great job of removing surface dirt and debris, but you will still want to add a deeper skin helper that addresses cellular turnover with either glycolic or even stronger Retin A or Tretinoin. You might also want to switch your brush head (Clarisonic suggests every three months) to the new deep pore cleansing brush.
For Your Body
As the cold air arrives and the furnaces and fire kick on, we like to take time to make a little salt scrub to take into the shower. Simply add about 1 tablespoon of kosher (rough) salt to an equal part of any of the Queen Bee body oils Citrus, Spa or Lavender. Stir together in a plastic bowl or cup. Take it with you into the shower and before turning the water on, just give yourself a rough slough all over. When the water hits your skin, you will be thankful that you took a couple minutes for yourself. This scrub is too strong for use on your face, but works great on arms, legs, any rough body skin.
Extreme Moisture
Using 100% hydrating lipids like the Vitamin K Daily Facial Vitamin Serum or the reformulated Sea Buckthorn C Serum is a great way to keep your facial skin happy during the winter. Sometimes, we find that adding a little raw shea butter before outdoor activities protects our cheeks and lips from wind burn and redness. Squalane is also a great addition to winter skin routines as it plumps the skin and allows the moisture to penetrate and be more easily absorbed into the top layers making our faces appear more dewy, smooth, and healthy. If you have questions about what is in the products you use now, just read the labels. If the first ingredient isn’t a moisturizing agent (fat or lipid) then it probably should be used in the summer or humid conditions versus the drying winter months.
